Kill Bill drawing I did earlier this year and kinda forgot about.
Hey Mike! Hope you're having an awesome summer so far :) I'm going to be Senior Illustration major at Pratt next year and I was wondering if you could briefly summarize what the senior thesis process is like? I'm not sure if I should be going into class pretty much knowing exactly what I'll be doing... I also don't have any idea of what we can do, or if we even have the choice? I thought you might be able to clear things up a bit :)
Yo thanks I hope you’re enjoying your summer too!! But yeah no problem though, I literally had no clue what to expect at the beginning of the year either so I understand haha.
Basically, some professors (depending on who you’re taking) will either ask you to to come up with a big project/ series that will take the entire semester to complete, and then others will give out editorial/ theme based assignments on a weekly basis. With the exception of the assignment based stuff though you’ll totally have freedom over what you do if you decide to do a big “thesis” project, professors will give you their own thoughts on how you can make it standout effectively and whatnot but other than that its all you. And while it might be good to come in with some type of an idea, you’ll usually have the first couple of classes to really come up with something solid before you start bringing in work.
Hope that helps you out a little, if you need to know anything else feel free to ask! Good luck this year!!
